QA Engineer/Analyst Regent Education
Job Description
The Role
This individual will play an active hands-on role in all aspects of quality assurance, from functional
requirements walkthroughs, reviewing and analyzing functional and technical designs, creating test plans
and developing and executing tests of project features. This position will work closely with the product
management, development, delivery and support teams, ensuring that testing of new functionality is
automated as quickly as possible and that the complete end-to-end automated regression test suite is run
continuously. This includes personally writing and/or executing automated and manual tests. End-to-end
business system testing is required including UI, business logic, and database results. Specifically, s/he
will:
Work closely with Product/Business Analysts and Managers to understand the product requirements
and use cases in order to deliver high quality software on schedule for production releases.
Create and execute test plans and test cases based upon functional and software design specifications.
Help define, promote, and ensure adherence to quality assurance processes such as test plan reviews,
defect management, risk/complexity analysis, and regression test maintenance.
Interface with 3rd parties on requirements, testing, and problem troubleshooting, as needed.
Perform tasks within area of specialization with little to no supervision.
Be responsible for following through and making sure defects are reported and escalated
appropriately.
Professional Requirements
Experience with the systems development lifecycle and the role of QA in those processes.
Strong analytical skills in assessing user, functional, and technical requirements and documentation
and identifying high risk and key test areas.
Understanding of multi-tier web application architecture and deployment.
Experience testing database driven applications including data validation using SQL.
GUI test automation experience is helpful
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of general release engineering tasks, including deploying builds to test or live
environments.
Experience with UNIX and Microsoft Windows.
Knowledge of development languages like Java and/or .Net
Knowledge of relational databases
