About the Role:
QA Engineers play a vital role in the product development process at WhaleShark Media. As a QA Engineer, you will work closely with a team of experienced product managers, software engineers and quality engineers to deliver high quality software and services to WhaleShark's millions of end users.
You will be given substantial ownership of the test and verification of major pieces of WhaleShark Media's software and services. You will be expected to do what it takes to assess and verify quality, using a mix of automated and manual methods. You will be expected to apply your strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to deliver.
Typical candidates will have experience with Internet and Web technologies, SQL and databases and various automation tools. They will be comfortable with Agile development processes and fast-paced environments.
Responsibilities & Project Work:
--Test user stories for incomplete information or incorrect assumptions and conclusions.
--Create, Execute, and Maintain automated and manual data-driven functional, service/API, and performance tests.
--Document software failures and anomalies providing sufficient detail to facilitate reproduction by developers, or work to identify root cause where feasible.
--Collaborate closely with product owners, developers, QA team members to prioritize and resolve issues.
--Utilize technical knowledge and experience to appropriately leverage automation technologies to extend test coverage and improve efficiency.
Requirements:
--Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical discipline.
--3+ years of professional software quality assurance and testing experience.
--Must have strong analytical abilities coupled with sound trouble-shooting skills.
--Expert level skills using Selenium 2 and WebDriver.
--Intermediate programming skills in Java, Python, Ruby, or other object-oriented language preferred.
--Intermediate knowledge of SQL and database technologies.
--Proficiency with Web and Internet technologies strongly preferred.
--Deep knowledge of black-box, grey-box and white-box testing techniques, and when each should be applied.
--Must excel in fast-paced Agile environment.
