We are looking for a senior QA engineer with a passion for data quality to work with our big data team to ensure accuracy and consistency of our business intelligence and data warehousing systems.
Responsibilities:
Improve data quality and coverage by acting as a vocal proponent of QA in every phase of product development, from design through deployment
Drive dialogue in a small agile development team to determine how data will be tested, producing test plans, matrices and acceptance criteria
Select and apply appropriate QA methods and tools (manual exploration, performance/stress testing and beyond) to ensure timely high quality delivery
Author and maintain test plans and procedures. Analyze system failures and test results. Isolate, investigate and report bugs. Verify fixes.
Perform gap analysis of test plans and schedules, prioritizing testing activities
Requirements:
5+ years hands-on software QA experience, including black-box testing & white-box testing with a focus on data used and produced by the system
Experience writing test plans, detailed test cases, and other formal test documentation
Ability to troubleshoot and analyze issues to root cause, ideally at the code-level but definitely at the database level
Excellent communication skills that compliment your ability to work autonomously

Experience & Skills
Bachelor degree or equivalent quality assurance experience
Experience working on business intelligence and data warehousing systems
Familiarity with the use of structured and unstructured data and BIG data
Expertise in SQL, schemas and database concepts like indexing
Experience using Hive, Pig, R, Hadoop & SQL
Proficient in a Linux environment
Experience automating testing processes in a data warehouse environment
Experience creating and/or conditioning test data
Experience in an ETL environment
Experience in business analysis a plus
Experience testing browser-based online services and/or desktop client applications
Experience testing game systems and the data they generate
Experience with open source test tools like Selenium & SimpleTest, Bugzilla, virtual machines, UNIX and SQL/MySQL
Experience with defect tracking and management
Experience with Agile and/or the Scrum framework
Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
