QA Engineer JiWire

Position Summary:



QA Data Tester at JiWire will be one of the most important positions and challenging - a lot of visibility and responsibility. JiWire is creating revolutionary products in the location based digital media world. Youll be working alongside some of the smartest folks in the engineering, QA, Production, Product and other teams. In fact, in the role of QA Data Tester, youll be in the center of cross-functional discussions and decisions. Add to that the diversity of JiWires systems that need QA coverage (Mobile, Web, massive data processing and reporting, high volume ad serving, internal tools, etc.) and you get a great opportunity to be part of ground breaking business and internal tools.



Responsibilities:


Provide Data Warehouse Based Testing
Build, maintain, and extend regression and automation suites
Identify and communicate risks
Responsible for the developing planning, execution, scheduling, and reporting of tests suites
Participate as a team member in testing, analysis, process management to identify and communicate risks
Respond to dynamic situations while maintaining adherence to best principals
Build alliances with business owners, product owners, developers, and operations
Recommend solutions to technical issues, participate in architecting solutions
Create black, gray, and white box automated tests as appropriate
Drive continuous improvement in test coverage and test effectiveness
Serve as a resource in the full development cycle, end-to-end, from conception, design, implementation and testing to documentation, delivery and maintenance
Accomplish aggressive goals and meet strict deadlines
Be an active participant in an Agile/Scrum environment

Qualifications

Required:

A minimum of 2 years in software QA, or development
A minimum of 2 years as part of a highly collaborative team of software and quality assurance engineers, product owners, scrummaster(s), and the business owners

A minimum of 3 years of IT/IS experience

Experience working with Unix/Linux shell and experience writing batch/shell scripts to test applications with no graphical user interface

Demonstratable knowledge of and hands-on experience in 2 or more of the following: Java, Perl, Shell scripting, Python, Ruby, SQL, PHP, JavaScript, SML, DOM, C/C. Preferably PHP, Java, Python

Strong experience with testing/debugging Data Warehouse is highly desirable
Strong experience with SQL

Strong understanding and experience with RDBMS systems such as MySQL, Oracle, or Sybase

Experience with Hadoop (or similar technology).
