JOB SUMMARY
The QA Engineer will be responsible for execution and maintenance test plans based on an understanding of the company?s software testing methodology and of the software to be tested. Will execute test cases/scripts, incorporating mostly black box, and manual testing. Will report and manage defects, and regress software fixes for new and existing applications.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
4+ years of testing experience dealing with Internet/Web related applications as a QA Engineer in a technical software quality assurance environment.
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Technical
Communications or the equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Experience with Black box and manual testing for Internet/Web related applications in Windows environment is a must.
Experience with J2EE based application servers (Weblogic, JBOSS, Websphere, etc) and with Web-based user interfaces.
Prior experience working in QA on enterprise applications.
Prior experience working directly with databases: SQL Plus, SQL-Toad experience preferred, working knowledge with Oracle is a plus.
Working experience and exposure to HTML/Javascript applications and basic knowledge of HTML/JavaScript is a must.
Familiarity with streaming protocols and different media players (Windows Media, Real, Flash, Silverlight) is a must..
Demonstrated responsibility in releasing software applications preferred.
Prior experience working with QuickTestPro, Test Director is a plus.
Experience in programming with at least one of the scripting languages is a plus ( VBS, JS, Python etc).
Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, practices and policies.
Excellent trouble-shooting skills.
Ability to learn proprietary applications quickly.
Must have strong communication skills to interface with the other members of your team.
Self-motivated, self-starting individual with drive to work independently as needed.
A passion for testing and desire to ensure end-to-end quality in the development cycle.
Must have proven experience of documenting bug reports and status reports.
Must have strong Windows background; familiarity with Unix a plus.
Exposure to XP and/or Agile development models.
