QA Software Test Engineer Globe Wireless

This position is responsible for developing and maintaining test scenarios, preparing test scripts for manual and automated testing, testing software according to specifications and assisting in the debugging process. The Test Engineer insures that software is validated for release in a manner consistent with company approved procedures. A wide degree of creativity and responsibility is expected.

This role will organize and work with multiple software developers on products and processes, take responsibility for the quality of specific features and/or releases, and define testing requirements/objectives for changes to existing products.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
Write test plans to evaluate highly complex software products.
Will quickly build annotated test cases.
Communicate effectively with Product Managers and Engineers.
Maintains and builds on technical knowledge, product knowledge, and QA methodology knowledge.
Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
Uses professional concepts in accordance with company objectives to solve complex problems in creative and effective ways.
Review software requirements and generate test scenarios in support of product design.
Design, implement and maintain test specifications; create test plans according to product plans.
Proactively work with Development group in problem analysis, reproduction, and resolution.
Perform back-end SQL testing and front-end testing.
Analyze test cases and report results on a regular basis.

Education, Experience, and Job Knowledge
Bachelor?s degree in computer science, information technology or related field
3+ years as a software test /release engineer in an enterprise-level technical environment.
Working knowledge of: Windows, Linux and Sybase ASE enterprise environments.
Working knowledge of program packaging using Install Shield.
Support experience with high-volume, high-availability (24x7) production systems.
Experience with software version control packages: CVS, Subversion, Visual SourceSafe.
Working knowledge using TSQL.
Knowledge of automated test techniques using Silk or similar tools.
Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Excellent analytical skills and commitment to continuous testing improvement.
