This is a temporary position which may lead to a regular full-time job and will start off as a day shift for a couple of months then will shift to graveyard (10pm-6:30am). The company is currently located in Palo Alto, CA but will be moving to Milpitas, CA in April 2013.
Position Overview:
The primary role of the QC Technician is to carry out the quality control tests on Nanosys Quantum Dot products. This position may also be required to assist with other testing requirements for Quantum Dots in various lighting platforms with the goal of optimizing performance and improving the lifetime of the final product.
Major Responsibilities:
Perform various chemical analysis processes on Nanosys products.
Carry out basic chemical transfer and handling of air-sensitive optically active chemicals in a glove box environment.
Carry out quality control testing of the quantum dot materials under direction from the QC supervisor and record all data in the appropriate format.
Where required maintain and calibrate test equipment.
Where required, analyze and post-process test data
Suggest process and characterization improvements.
Required Skills:
Good laboratory technique and experience handling chemicals in an air-free environment.
Must be able to quickly adapt to new and different methods for the operation of software and equipment.
Must have exceptionally good organizational skills and pay close attention to detail
Must have analytical and problem solving skills.
Must have the ability to describe precisely what is being done and problems that arise to others.
Must be able to work independently and efficiently.
Ability to work off-shift hours (e.g. graveyard shift).
Education, Experience and Certifications:
2 year degree in a scientific or engineering discipline plus 1-3 years relevant experience, or equivalent.

Work is mainly performed in a laboratory environment. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
