Overview:
Plan, coordinate, design, execute, track and report on ETL operational processes for a large data warehouse and related software tools. Develop a strong understanding of enterprise databases, system dependencies and the interfaces between them.
Work closely with the business and technical teams to define/understand business and data policy rules to ensure data quality is maintained for each data load job.
Design, create, implement and administer data monitoring jobs that inspect, measure and report on data quality, and notify the teams as necessary when issues are found.
Design and execute traceable data validation scripts that verify and validate the systems? extraction/ insertion and transformation logic. Tracks data elements from source through transformation to target.
Work with Data Stewards, subject matter experts and data management personnel to research reported data anomalies, identify root causes, and determine or implement data remediation solutions.
Assist in the manual correction of data errors in source systems as needed.
Analyze formal monitoring results in order to discover and report any defects, errors, configuration issues, and interoperability flaws. Identify problematic areas on ETL processes, data workflows, data transformations, and data exceptions.
Identify trends and quality gaps from the analysis of monitoring data to improve the customer experience.
Recommend maintenance enhancements to data acquisition processes to improve accuracy of data warehouse data.
Act as liaison between the business units, technology and data management support teams.
Proactively communicate and collaborate with external data partners to analyze information needs.
Create, define, and maintain lifecycle documentation representing data elements across multiple upstream and downstream systems.
Communicate monitoring progress, monitoring results, and quality metrics to team members and management.
Proactively make recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness as it relates to quality standards and testing methodologies.
Provide guidance, technical assistance, and mentoring in data quality to other team members.
Comply with any applicable IT standards and policies. Keeps current with industry trends and practices within area of responsibility.
Responsibilities:
Strong knowledge of Data Warehouse and Data Quality practices and concepts.
Requires advanced understanding and interpretation of requirements, technical documents and development code
Proficiency in developing SQL scripts and testing extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) processes.
Demonstrate excellent analytic and logical thinking skills are necessary.
Strong troubleshooting, investigative, and problem solving abilities. Superior written and verbal communication skills with ability to clearly and concisely articulate issues effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
Detailed-oriented with the ability to decompose complex and diverse projects into manageable pieces.
Ability to multi-task, self-manage and prioritize tight deadlines effectively.
Strong team player, self-starter and can work independently or with direction.
Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment with cross-functional teams is required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor?s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline is required.
4-6 years demonstrable experience in a dedicated data analyst role; minimum of 3 years Data Warehouse/ETL and Data Quality experience a must.
3+ years experience writing complex SQL scripts to complete data analysis and data profiling required; experience extracting data and performing external validation of business rule transformation and violations required.
Prior healthcare industry experience in an Agile/Sprint development environment desired.
3+ years direct hands-on experience with query editors, ETL and/or automation test tools; Informatica PowerCenterIDQ, HP-Mercury Quality Center and Functional Test/QTP preferred.
4+ years experience with RDBMS (Oracle 10g+ or SQL Server 2005+) and database scripting and tools required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 2010 productivity suite.
