SUMMARY
This position works with the Software Quality Assurance team supporting the product development lifecycle through design reviews, software analysis, test case design and authoring, defect identification, logging and tracking, and task tracking.
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES:
Required: Windows Operating Systems maintenance and administration, basic networking skills, high attention to detail, strong documentation skills, effective oral and written communication skills and software defect detection skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. These duties may be performed individually, as part of a team or in cooperation with customers.
Author test cases and test data.
Contributes to establishment of standards and procedures for program design and testing.
Responds to inquiries from users and technical support regarding functions and operations of software programs.
Tests software programs to compare to specifications and documentation.
Identifies, analyzes, and documents defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies in software program functions, outputs, online screens, and content.
Executes automated test scripts using testing software programs.
Installs, maintains, and uses testing software programs.
Reviews computer logs and reports to identify program processing errors.
Conducts compatibility tests with other software programs, hardware, multiple
operating systems, and network environments.
Documents, tracks, and communicates test plans, test results, analysis, and
unresolved problems.
Monitors program performance after implementation to prevent recurrence of program operating problems and ensure efficiency of operation.
Coordinates testing by users and third parties.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
This position requires the knowledge and skills normally acquired through the successful completion of a BS degree in Computer Science.
Requires 2 or more years of software test experience.
Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle.
Familiarity with the Internet, internet service providers or networks.
Familiarity with Linux, Microsoft and Apple operating systems.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to communicate effectively using verbal or written means.
REASONING ABILITY
Must be able to demonstrate exceptional reasoning skills in day-to-day troubleshooting operations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Technical certifications are a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position may require the employee to spend extended periods of time in climate controlled environments (data centers, server rooms, etc.).
Some lifting of 50 lbs. may be required in the mounting and dismounting of equipment. Cabling/wiring operations my create some physically challenging work operations.
The position will require the employee to spend extended periods of time entering and monitoring data on Personal Computers.
