Headquartered in Davis, CA, Marrone Bio Innovations (MBI) discovers, develops, and markets effective and environmentally responsible natural products for pest management in ag and water.
The Quality Assurance Associate position plans and executes quality assurance activities to ensure facility compliance to GLP, cGMP, and ISO standards, maintains test records and SOP?s generated or utilized by the company, and is responsible for supporting the Regulatory Department in reviewing studies, writing test protocols, and assembling data packages for registration submissions. The QA Associate should possess experience in manufacturing and GLP environments.
Responsibilities and Duties
Initiate and maintain GLP compliance in all MBI test laboratories.
Monitor raw material and finished product sampling, testing, and disposition assuring adequate, appropriate, and complete documentation and traceability.
Monitor manufacturing plant and company personnel for compliance to GLP, cGMP, and ISO specifications and protocols.
Ensure that there are standard operating procedures in place for all manufacturing processes performed at MBI manufacturing locations.
Review production records to ensure complete documentation and traceability, compliance to set standards, and full retention and archiving of completed records, including an electronic repository for all batch records.
Collaborate closely with operators and management at MBI?s Michigan manufacturing location to ensure proper documentation QA of our manufacturing process.
Ensure laboratory test stations and equipment are efficiently calibrated and maintained.
Write and implement procedures and other documentation as necessary to support the Quality Management System.
Conduct training sessions on appropriate documentation procedures for laboratory notebooks and production and test records.
Perform supplier and internal audits.
Support the investigation of complaints, corrective actions, and nonconforming materials.
Support the Regulatory Department in reviewing studies, writing test protocols, and assembling data packages for registration submissions.
Confer with MBI management to identify, plan, and develop methods and procedures to obtain greater efficiency, quality, and compliance within the plant.
Maintain awareness of R&D and manufacturing policies, safety concerns, and environmental conditions that can affect product quality
Ensure the promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization.

Qualifications and Characteristics
Education and Experience:
This position shall have prior experience working in a regulated production setting. An M.S. in a Chemical or Biological discipline or a four-year degree in a Chemical or Biological discipline plus three years of experience is required for this position.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Possess the ability to write detailed technical reports, business correspondence, records, and procedures. Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and peers.
Able to calculate figures and amounts such as area, length, and volume. Able to calculate and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and statistical functions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Able to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism such as graphs, formulas and scientific equations.
Possess intermediate personal computer skills including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics.
Capable of handling and planning multiple tasks and projects simultaneously under stringent deadlines.
Essential Physical & Mental Functions
The Quality Assurance Associate must have manual dexterity sufficient to handle items and perceive the attributes of objects. Must be able to function in working conditions that are adequately lighted, moderately heated or air-conditioned, and in an indoor office, laboratory, and production setting. In the course of daily activities associates may be exposed to air contamination such as disagreeable odors.
