The QA Engineer is required to develop and execute functional and regression tests using both manual and automated test tools to assure quality for new or modified applications/systems and existing functionality. This position also provides input into the quality processes and continually improves the effectiveness and efficiency of testing within the Information Technology team. The Quality Assurance Engineer actively participates in certifying the level of quality of the system and other related applications prior to release. As a part of the QA team, the Quality Assurance Engineer works with a variety of groups across multiple departments to improve, streamline, integrate, and communicate the build, test, deployment and release cycles for all applications.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Ensure that testing activities validate that applications meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify existing or potential issues
Manage all aspects of testing for software development projects, problem fixes and enhancements throughout their development/product lifecycles
Review requirements with Product Management and Development for testability.
Review/analyze software requirements and technical or functional specification documents to develop test cases to validate that the code meets requirements.
Contribute to the development of the automation tests.
Contribute to the development of the automation framework.
Participate in daily scrum meetings for defect status, priority and information exchange.
Participate in Production testing.
Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline required.
2 ? 5 years of experience as technical business analyst or quality assurance engineer
Prior experience in e-commerce, Telco/cable/satellite, and utility/home-services industries.
Prior experience in the capacity of technical analyst or system analyst.
Experience with relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server) and no-SQL databases (Mongo DB).
Experience with web servers IIS, NGINX.
Experience with Selenium (RC or Web Driver) and Jmeter.
Experience with continuous integration involving Jmeter with Jenkins
Software test experience in developing test strategies, test cases and creating scripts from functional specifications
Sound understanding of approaches to QA testing (Black vs. White box testing; POS vs. NEG testing, etc.)
Must possess strong technical aptitude in order to perform some white box testing as needed for issue verification
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with attention to details
Ability to identify, define, log, track, and retest defects
Experience in testing web-applications in an AGILE development environment
Experience with Test Management systems (Rally , Jira or similar)
Must possess strong analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to communicate with multiple departments in understanding new requirements and resolving issues.
Ability to multitask and be flexible with changing task assignments.
