DescriptionSummary
Primary responsibility is to develop software for testing complex database driven systems. Position will provide programming related support to QA Analyst team members helping them build automated regression processes for the various Appriss applications. Position will provide non-programming Quality Assurance and system test services on assigned projects as directed by the QA Manager. Non-programming duties will include development and execution of test plans (automated and manual) in the QA test environment as well as reporting deviations and metrics as required. Continually look to improve Appriss processes by adopting best practices.
Minimum Requirements
Education
oBachelor?s degree in a computer related field or equivalent experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Experience, or Characteristics
o1 year experience programming in Perl, Ruby, Java or Visual Basic or similar language.
o1 year experience testing Software systems.
oGood working knowledge of Windows, Unix/Linux and SQL.
oPrior job experience that demonstrates the ability to interact and communicate with a variety of personality profiles with successful results.
oExcellent written and verbal communications skills are required.
Helpful / Preferred
oBackground in technologies such as object-oriented design and development, client/server and J2EE is preferred.
oExperience testing Web, Web Service, and/or server based application systems is preferred.
oExperience using and/or creating automated test tools in the performance of load and regression testing is preferred.
oExperience in the development and execution of project specific test plans is a plus.
oExperience with Telephony systems a plus.
Functions and Responsibilities (?in addition to other duties as assigned)
1.Works with QA Analysts, Business Analysts, and Software Engineers to develop automated test plans for Appriss Applications. Develops, implements and modifies software and/or scripts required to execute the automated test plan.
2.Analyzes problem areas; designs and implements system improvements.
3.Plans and executes testing of major systems.
4.Proactively learns and utilizes new technologies, concepts and procedures as appropriate to project requirements.
5.Attain product release or project knowledge by attending scheduled meetings, reviewing functional specifications and release notes. Create project test plans to ensure product functions as defined.
6.Manually execute test plans for website, telephony or core services as required reporting unexpected results to project leaders.
7.Assures product compliance with specifications and reports product deviations.
8.Execute ad hoc queries to relational databases using SQL.
9.Work with QA teammates to improve QA standards, processes and procedures.
10.Represents Appriss' best interests professionally, ethically, financially and legally to the best degree possible in servicing clients and co-workers and exhibits a positive attitude in action, behaviors and conduct.
11.Contributes to a non-hostile, pleasant working environment.
12.Performs other duties as assigned.
