Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The QA Lead?s primary purpose is responsibility for the coordination and execution of localization (L10n) testing activities.
Major responsibilities will include:
Coordinating Quality Assurance projects through internal and external resources.
Maintaining QA procedures on a per client/project basis.
Maintaining a long-term quality plan for existing and new client needs.
Maintaining QA contractors and managing relationships with them.
Implementing and maintaining a best-of-class process that will coordinate quality assurance projects coming from multiple office locations.
Working closely with in-country and local QA resources, Project Management and Engineering, to identify and prioritize materials for localization QA and ensuring localization QA efforts are successful.
Managing contractor resources, tracking budgets and establishing, tracking and analyzing production quality.
Performing minor test lab configuration on a per project basis.
Miscellaneous creating and reviewing of test plans and/or scripts per project requirements.
Analyzing defect reports and communicating results internally and with vendors.
Filing bug reports and working with developers to reproduce and troubleshoot problems.
Accurately reporting issues/solutions throughout project lifecycle in a timely manner to relevant personnel.
Generating test scripts for multiple types of application UI?s, Documentation and Help files.
Training linguistic testers to follow test scripts and reporting defects using defect tracking system.
Providing encouragement and feedback to linguistic testers.
Developing training material in line with project strategy.
Providing objective feedback and critique for team.
Supporting Project Managers / Functional Managers through projects, initiatives, load balancing, etc.
Presenting/delivering presentations on relevant information to management and peers.
Automating the testing process where possible
Evaluating testing results and entering problem reports in a problem tracking system.
Reviewing product specifications and generating test plans.
Identifying testing problems and generating solutions for projects or processes.
Communicating product readiness, level of quality and results to the Project Manager and the project team.
Bachelor?s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Computer Science; or three or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Required Skills
Language: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Other: Prior QA Lead experience, preferably in the Localization industry. Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Broad technical knowledge including: (a) working knowledge of Windows with Mac OS and (b) basic systems administration (installing and configuring operating systems and hardware). Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Ability to work cooperatively and proactively with staff inside and outside of the department. Experience with defect tracking tools, workflow processes and project and/or vendor management preferred.
