The Quality Control Associate will be responsible for inspecting and auditing inbound, outbound and sample shipments. QC inspection involves checking product for damages/mislabels, refurbishing items/packaging to ensure the highest quality, and making sure that the condition of high value and vintage product match the condition stated by the vendor. The role of QC at Gilt is to prevent product that does not meet our QC standards from reaching our customers and to make sure that the product they receive matches the product and description sold. Therefore the ultimate goal of QC is to enhance the overall customer experience. This role is based at Gilt Groupe?s distribution center in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
The person in this role will be handling fine jewelry, watches and luxury handbags, so hands-on experience with one or more of these kinds of products is required. Certification from the GIA, specifically Colored Stones/Gem Identification, is a strong plus. The person in this role will work to ensure the highest quality standard through all steps of the warehouse process, including: reporting to various merchandise teams on the quality of inbound and sample orders, communicating with merchandise and creative teams to make sure that products are photographed and described correctly, and inspecting outbound customer orders and returns to ensure 100% order accuracy.
Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
Conduct inspection audit of inbound, outbound and sample orders.
Process returns, specifically fine jewelry, watches, and handbags
Create and maintain quality procedures for a cross-functional team
Track, report, and communicate feedback on condition of merchandise from multiple vendors
Qualifications:
1-3 years work experience in fine jewelry or luxury goods
GIA certification a plus, specifically Colored Stones/Gem Identification
Knowledge of fine watches and luxury/vintage handbags a plus
Forward thinking to ensure quality procedures throughout the distribution center
Ideal candidate must be comfortable handling high value merchandise
Detail oriented and quality of work must reflect the highest standards
Interest in fashion, retail, and E-commerce
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Ability to communicate effectively with various team members, suppliers, vendors, and cross functional team
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word applications as well as Google applications (Gmail, Google Docs, etc.)
