Merrimack applies Network Biology, its proprietary systems biology-based approach to biomedical research, throughout the research and development process. We are seeking a talented Quality Control Specialist. The ideal candidate will have the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment and work proactively with various teams across the organization.
The Quality Control Specialist will be an important member of the Liposomal / Commercial team. As a specialist you will help build the QC lab to support the future commercial production of our liposomal products. The QC specialist should be an expert in performing, optimizing and validating HPLC based methods for small molecules and/or liposomes. You will lead or assist in the implementation and validation of Part 11 compliant software such as Empower III. Additionally, the specialist will assist in writing operation and maintenance procedures for all of our equipment and associated software. The QC Specialist will lead OOS/OOT investigations and work closely with quality assurance, process development, manufacturing, and research and development. The QC specialist will also support in-process, release, stability and characterization testing.
The position requires a BS or MS in biochemistry or a related field and 5-9+ years of experience working in a QC lab. The ideal candidate will be able to work both independently and in a team setting. The candidate should have an established track record in performing optimizing and validating HPLC-based assays for small molecules and lipids (biologics is a plus) and have demonstrated experience in GMP quality systems. The candidate is expected to be knowledgeable in Particle Size analysis, Zeta Potential, Reverse Phase, SEC, IEX, SDS-PAGE, Bioanalyzer and other standard wet chemistry methods. Experience performing evaporative light scattering (ELSD) analysis is a bonus. The ideal candidate will be able to identify and bring in new technologies to help improve the QC lab. The candidate should have an established track record in working independently and acting as a leader in the QC lab. In addition, the candidate must have excellent team skills, effective organization and presentation skills; be reliable, motivated, and have strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal) amenable to work in a team environment.
