Job Qualifications (basic job description): Aurora Flight Sciences is seeking The Quality Engineer, working under general supervision, in a team oriented environment, perform all tasks in area of responsibility in a timely and efficient manner to support the AS9100 Quality Management System and inspection processes ensuring all aspects of the delivered/finished article is manufactured in accordance with contract and technical requirements.. Provides direct support to Functional and Program Management to assure processes and performance meet or exceed customer expectations.
Write quality plans compliant to customer requirements working with product development teams to ensure the plans are fulfilled during development and production phases
Manage the compliance of the quality activities, internal and supply chain, in support of AS9100 Quality Management System
Understands and is able to apply and communicate to others: engineering drawings / models/ specifications; Quality Control System Requirements, with knowledge of advanced composites production processes and fabrication techniques.
Serve as the customer primary point of contact for quality support issues throughout the product development and production life cycle
Review contract, and product documentation to ensure appropriate quality planning supports customer quality and product requirements (engineering drawings / models, procedures and change orders)
Participate in Product Development and Testing activities. Assists with analysis of performance and failure data throughout development cycle and identifies opportunities and solutions for improvement.
Ensures non-conforming product is properly identified, segregated, reviewed, and disposed in accordance with customer requirements and manages the Material Review quarantine area
Coordinates supplier requirements with Supply Chain Management function and Suppliers through application of vendor technical and quality requirements flow down.
Investigates customer returns and warranty claims including initiation of disposition reports as required.
Supports Quality Assurance reporting metrics; provides data for tracking metrics
Assists in development of root-cause analysis and corrective/ preventive actions are implemented to address non-conformances
Participates in design reviews, providing input on definition of product sufficient to allow inspection, prior production / field issues pertinent to the configuration under review. Has a working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5M and/or Y14.41
Minimum Requirements (education and experience):
Bachelor?s degree (BS) in Engineering or a related technical discipline; 10 years? experience may be considered as alternative to degree based on review
Six plus years of related aerospace Production Quality Assurance experience. (Advanced Composites fabrication may be substituted for aerospace experience)
Direct experience and knowledge of AS9100C; Experienced Root Cause, Corrective and Preventative Action practitioner
MUST be a US Person or Permanent Resident Green Card Holder.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
American Society for Quality certification desired.
Aerospace composite component industry experience preferred.
Green Belt certification
Ability to working within a manufacturing environment and able to lift and transport objects up to 40 pounds as well as consistently stoop, crawl, bend, crouch, climb and kneel.
Shift Requirements (specify if irregular work hours or shift work will be required):
Day shift with flexibility to work extend hours or other shifts as needed
