Aurora Flight Sciences is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join our growing team in Mississippi. This position requires an action and results oriented individual who can effectively achieve demanding development and production goals. This individual must also be able to interact and communicate at all levels of the organization.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
With minimum supervision performing dimensional and visual inspection for in-process and final acceptance of aircraft vehicle composite components using drawings, CAD models, specifications and manufacturing process documentation to verify conformance to design requirements of workmanship and conformance to specifications, schematics and blueprints
Specific Responsibilities:
Product and process conformance inspection and acceptance verified from design / process drawings / models, procedures and specifications. Inspection and acceptance of products and processes are primarily composites but may include some level of sheet metal details, machined metal and composite components, raw material, miscellaneous hardware, adhesive, paints and sealants included.
Monitors production operations pertaining to lay-up, laser alignment, automated ply-cutter, manual and automated lay-up of composites and thermal processing and trim/drill operations. Reviews records for completeness / acceptance of data. Performs inspections associated with composite part production.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, military and industrial specifications / standards;
Maintain required quality records, in written and computer formats, supporting inspection, certification reviews and nonconformance reporting.
Implement corrective action with operations, purchasing, production control and liaison engineering.
Participate in internal customer audits as required to support quality management system.
Performs other tasks as assigned by Quality Manager
Complies with all facility and operational safety regulations and supports a safe working environment
Maintains a neat and orderly work area and supports the company FOD program
Some travel to suppliers or Aurora Flight Sciences sites required
Minimum Requirements (education and experience):
High School diploma or Three years, minimum, experience conducting product and process inspections on composite (carbon, fiberglass, Kevlar, and similar materials) utilizing standard measuring equipment, visual inspection techniques and basic shop math Experience in Aerospace highly desired.
Proficiency in verbal and written technical communication, and able to work from written or verbal instructions; basic computer skills PC with proficiency in MS Office software
Read and interpret engineering drawings, military and industrial specifications / standards.
Understanding of composite layup, laser alignment systems and composite ply cutter Gerber or Eastman file systems
MUST be a US Person or Permanent Resident Green Card Holder
