SAGE is currently seeking an experienced Quality Systems Manager to implement, improve and manage the quality systems at SAGE, especially in, but not limited to, the SageGlass IGU manufacturing.
Summary:
This role will provide hands on leadership to improve, implement and sustain the quality program at SAGE, with a priority on the SageGlass IGU manufacturing process initially. The role will involve developing and implementing the quality system in SAGE?s new high volume manufacturing facility as well as maintaining and improving the quality system at the existing facility. The individual will manage all aspects of the quality program including ensuring compliance to industry standards and managing certification programs. The role will be hands on, and will not only develop the systems but over the long term it will require building a group of technical personnel to ensure the programs are sustained.
Responsibilities:
Quality Systems
Work with Manufacturing and Engineering groups to develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive quality program for the high volume manufacturing process that is compliant with key industry certification standards. This effort will be extended to other parts of the organization as this first large task is completed.
Promote quality and performance improvement throughout the organization while maintaining awareness of the business context and company profitability, including budgetary control issues, safety and environmental requirements.
Review and resolve quality issues with production and engineering groups, and vendors as necessary.
Conduct process capability assessments
Where appropriate assess SAGE?s specifications vs. customer and vendor?s specifications and help address gaps.
Develop with the team standards and quality methods for them to apply. Review process procedures and quality specifications etc.
Monitor and advise on how the quality management system is performing and publish data and reports regarding company performance against set indicators.
Identify training needs and provide training on aspects of quality system to production and engineering team as appropriate. Ensure quality checks and inspections are carried out appropriately.
Ensure compliance with national and international standards and legislation, e.g. ASTM, product safety standards, ISO etc.
Collate and analyze performance data and use to develop more effective testing or drive process improvements.
Leadership:
Be the champion for quality management at SAGE
Provide supervision, coaching and development to any direct reports
Lead project teams as necessary to solve process or quality issues. These projects may be general yield related process and materials related issues.
Required Skills:
Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead through change and implement manufacturing quality systems
Quality Programs: Experience with implementing 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma and ISO (or similar) quality management systems.
Statistics: Good understanding of statistics theory and application. Experience with SPC, Design of Experiments, Gage R&R, Acceptance sampling. Formal Six Sigma training a plus.
Audits: Experience with certification audits (ISO, CE).
Computer software: MS Excel experience. Experience with quality management system software. Ability to learn specialized software. Experience with statistical packages such as SAS JMP or Minitab a plus.
Experience: At least 5 years in a quality improvement role, with a minimum of three years leading quality improvement work, preferably developing quality systems, plus experience directing the work of others.
Education:
Minimum four year degree with an emphasis in engineering, science, or mathematics.
