The mechanical engineer will participate in the mechanical, thermal, and optical design aspects of various characterization systems to study the efficiency and reliability of quantum-dot composite systems. This individual will work closely with the product and QD material development teams to help drive internal development activities. This individual will also partner with other internal resources as necessary to provide, collect, and analyze other application specific measurements.
Competencies
Technical
BA/MS degree in mechanical engineering or other relevant engineering degree.
Experience working with CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks.
Experience with machine shop tools and machining parts is a plus, but not required.
Experience with thermal design and working with thermal design tools, such as COMSOL Multiphysics, is an advantage.
Experience with LabVIEW and design of opto-mechanical systems is an advantage.
Behavioral
Hands-on, can-do individual, willing to take on challenges and drive results is required.
Comfortable working in a fast paced, self managed environment with aggressive goals.
Strong grasp and rigorous application of the scientific method in daily activities.
