Our ideal candidate is a Ruby on Rails enthusiast who?s anxious to dig into a cloud based platform development position. Back of the stack oriented, but can work front to back end as needed. The selected candidate will add to our existing development efforts in building our web applications for our internal and external customers. We are looking for someone who is keen on using Rails, Javascript and HTML/CSS standards to build clean, easy to use user interfaces, and not scared to wander into the world of mobile web browsers and cloud-based applications.The Bloomfire team is talented, energetic and collaborative. The office environment is fun and challenging.- The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker able to understand business goals and product requirements, and translate those ideas into creative, innovative, and functional development concepts.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with design team to accomplish goals
Use agile work processes
Discuss high level concept of features with Designer and Product Manager prior to wireframe development
Develop features using test driven development methodology
Ensure regularly passing robust test suite
Conduct manual testing prior to every deployment to ensure bug free implementation and desired behavior (yes, IE too)
Identify bugs and fix properly though developing appropriate test
Deploy new software at regularly scheduled time (bi-weekly deployments with weekly iterations)
Monitor system use and scale appropriately to achieve the goal of 100% up time
Ensure features are delivered on time as estimated
Have a presence in the developer community
Provide first line technical customer support and triage
Distill and communicate customer feedback to product manager and design team
Qualifications
A degree or equivalent in computer science (3+ years experience)
Experience with e-commerce, media (video), and web 2.0
Great attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem solving ability
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Ability to communicate clearly in writing and speech
Mastery of the following tools/languages
Ruby on Rails
Test::Unit/MiniTest/Rspec/Cucumber
HTML/CSS
HAML/SASS
Javascript/Coffescript
jQuery/Backbone.js
