Summary:
Reporting to the VP of New Basins, the Regional Geologist is responsible for the geologic and hydrologic characterization of oil and gas basins and producing properties in support of the Company's new basin, acquisition and well restoration project efforts. The Regional Geologist functions as a self directed member of the multidisciplinary Regional Team, providing the Team with an integrated interpretation of the subsurface reservoir characteristics while actively participating in the planning, monitoring and evaluation of Team projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Accountable for the Regional geosciences budget.
Accountable for the work product of other geologists that may be assigned to the Team
Responsible for guiding Team efforts in New Basin opportunity identification and evaluation through the compilation and evaluation of the geologic, hydrologic, and well historic production datasets and the development of key concepts and plans for both conventional exploration and development and the implementation of Luca's restoration technology.
Responsible for assessing conventional exploration, exploitation and unproven development upside opportunities on undeveloped acreage in producing property acquisitions, and for evaluating the suitability of the property oil or gas reservoirs for implementation of Luca's well restoration technology by characterizing the hydrogeologic setting.
Responsible for insuring the integration of geologic, hydrologic, and historic well production datasets into the Team's well restoration project planning and evaluations.
Responsible for establishing geologic and hydrologic databases and creating exhibits in support of federal and state regulatory requirements.
Responsible for the planning, direction, collection, quality assurance, and interpretation of geologic and hydrologic datasets, such as whole core and well cuttings, well logs, and potentiometric data.
Responsible for the generation of project work products, such as potentiometric maps, structural and stratigraphic cross-sections, structure and isopach maps, and maps displaying well production, environmental chemistry, and the microbial community characteristics of wells to assist in the Team's interpretation of the data.
Responsible for effective communications within a multidisciplinary Team environment. Must proactively engage and work with microbiologists, reservoir engineers, landmen, field operations and regulatory personnel in project planning, monitoring and evaluation.

Education and/or Experience:
BS in Geology, MS preferred, and a minimum of 10 years experience in the oil and gas industry. Certification in key states they are working in is preferred.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations geoscience topics to management and the Board of Directors and outside investors.
Mathematical Skills:
Commensurate with degree.
Reasoning Ability:
Capable of thinking and reasoning spatially and visualizing the subsurface in three dimensions at both macro and micro scales. Able to translate business goals into technical goals and exercise sound business judgment.
Computer Skills:
Microsoft office, IHS well/production software, geologic mapping software (Petra preferred)
