SUMMARY
This position requires a candidate with fitness industry sales experience and has established contacts with within the sporting goods and specialty fitness markets. Candidate must understand market trends, competitive landscape and SPRI?s position in the industry as well as its competitors. Understands and has the ability to work with a small, growing team realizing that many projects will be highly collaborative in nature.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Establish or leverage contacts with independent sporting goods retailers, institutional sales companies, international fitness suppliers and specialty fitness markets to increase market share and grow revenue. Keep in close touch with market trends, competitive landscape and SPRI?s role/standing within the industry.
Aggressively growing revenue and market share via new business and markets while maximizing purchasing opportunities of existing client base.
Leader and team member responsible for the formulation of annual sales tactics and strategies in collaboration with other team members.
Plan and execute sales strategies for SPRI and your region including but not limited to, strategic planning, educational programming, product evaluation and guidance, sales training, budget planning and management.
Assist in the development of pricing and ROI models for all products.
Understands margin and profitability requirements and makes decisions favorable to SPRI and their territory. Sets realistic revenue goals based on knowledge of the market. Contribute to marketing discussions.
Organizes travel to maximize time in the field for customer visits, generating revenue and manages travel expenses in the best interest of SPRI/Gaiam.
Responsible for periodically performing outside tasks such trade show participation in addition to sales duties.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for building teams both in the department and across departments. Has direct responsibility for providing pertinent market information, new product trends, suggests additions and deletions from the SPRI product mix to fellow sales and marketing associates. Plans, coordinates and executes sales incentive programs for customers within territory.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Requires a Bachelors degree in business, marketing or a related field. Extensive experience in sales and marketing, wellness/fitness programming and media relations required. Five years fitness industry knowlege is a plus. The key skill sets for this position are project management, marketing experience, and excellent communication skills. This role requires a leader with a drive for execution and results, independence and strong interpersonal skills.
