Job Description:
Regulatory Compliance Paralegal - MegaPath (Austin, TX)
1. State Regulatory Compliance
Prepare and file all state regulatory compliance reports (annual, quarterly and/or monthly)
Compile all internal information required for reports
Process reports for internal signature
Ensure reports are timely filed per statutory deadlines
Update and maintain internal tracking for regulatory reports
Draft motions for protective order to ensure protection of confidential information
Prepare and file responses to state regulatory inquiries related to certificated carrier
Prepare and process check requests for PUC Assessments
2. Customer Complaints
Responsible for preparing responses to customer complaints (BBB and state regulatory or attorney general), including, review complaint; complete internal investigation; draft response for Legal Counsel review; file response
Assist with complaints involving potential or active litigation
Assist internal Finance Collection Team in drafting responses to complaints
3. Rate Specialist
Update internal matrices with current rates charged
Assist in inquiries regarding correct rates under interconnection agreements and tariffs
Assist in validation of rates in audits or inquires by internal departments
4. State and Federal Regulatory Advocacy Support
Support Legal Counsel in all proceedings or advocacy before state and federal regulatory authorities, including PSCs, FCC, USAC, and legislatures
Required Skills and Knowledge:
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarization with systems, reports, procedures required for the job
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Financial background (accounting or finance) would be helpful
Independent worker and self-starter on certain projects while also strong team work skills.
Willingness to learn new substantive areas of practice and assist with variety of projects that may arise for Legal Department
Educational Background:
Typically requires an Associate?s degree in related field or equivalent experience, certifications, or training
Job-related Experience:
4+ years of related experience
