REGULATORY COUNSEL NetSpend
NetSpend Corporation is looking to hire an additional lawyer to help the company develop and expand its innovative business in a complex and dynamic regulatory environment, supporting the company?s other lawyers, compliance professionals, and business managers. The ideal candidate will be an experienced financial institutions regulatory lawyer with diverse experience; other business law experience will be valuable as the job will include work on financial services transactional matters (both commercial and strategic).
Key areas include federal regulation of financial institutions (including, without limitation, Reg. E. and UDAAP), state and federal regulation of money services businesses, and emerging issues related to prepaid debit and the provision of financial services to the underbanked.
This position will report directly to the company?s General Counsel and it will be part of the Legal Department and will be based at the company?s corporate headquarters in Austin, Texas.
Support legal team, compliance professionals, senior management and line executives in regulatory and other industry-specific legal issues related to the company?s business, such as review of various materials and collateral used to marketing the company?s prepaid products.
Interact directly with federal and state regulators on matters related to the company?s business.
Interact directly with the company?s issuing banks and third-party distributors on legal and compliance issues.
Support legal team on transactional matters with regulatory implications, including commercial contracts and strategic transactions.
Provide legal support in development of innovative new financial products.
Minimum four years of experience; will consider all levels of experience.
Financial institutions regulatory experience; other business law experience a plus.
Strong interpersonal and exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment to providing the highest quality legal services.
Practice experience in public sector (financial institutions regulatory agency or similar) a plus.
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
Ability to travel both domestically on occasion.
