Role and Responsibilities:
Conducts a nutrition assessment and obtains nutrition history from patient.
Consults with physician and other health care personnel to determine patient's nutritional needs and diet restrictions, such as low fat or salt free.
Formulates menus for therapeutic diets based on medical and physical condition of patients, and integrates patient's menus with basic institutional menus.
Develops and implements plan of care based on assessment of nutritional needs and available sources, and correlates plan with other healthcare.
Instructs patients about meal plan and dietary changes, and establishes goals and objectives to help meet the plan.
Evaluates nutritional care and provides follow-up continuity of care.
Documents nutrition care plans and information into patient's medical records.
Inspects meals served for conformance to prescribed diets and for standards of palatability and appearance.
Instructs patients and their families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection, and preparation.
Supervises activities of workers engaged in food preparation and service.
Engages in nutritional research.
Teaches nutrition and diet therapy to medical students and hospital personnel.
Will work part time at both Northwest Reno and Sparks clinics totaling approx. 30 hours per week.
All other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
Bachelor''s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or similar area.
Required registered Dietitian status with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Current state licensure.
Minimum of one year professional work experience in clinical nutrition as a Registered Dietitian post graduation / internships required.
Significant experience with End State Renal Disease (ESRD) patients highly desired.
