Alder Biopharmaceuticals is seeking an experienced and motivated Research Associate to join our Antibody Selection (ABS) technology group in the identification of novel therapeutic antibodies.
This individual will be responsible for drug candidate screening using biochemical (e.g., ELISA) and cell based functional assays. In addition, the successful candidate will be involved in optimization of ELISA and other biochemical assays, maintaining mammalian cell lines, validation and optimization of functional cell based assays and the culturing of a variety of primary cells.
Qualifications:
M.S. or B.S. in the biological sciences with a minimum of 3+ years experience in an industry setting. Prior research experience in the area of biopharmaceutical drug discovery is required and knowledge of biologics is highly preferred. Strong cellular biology skills including experience in tissue culture, the development of ELISAs and functional assays for the screening of therapeutic agents is essential. Experience with the development of cell based functional assays (proliferation/cytotoxicity assays) flow cytometry, reporter gene assays, and molecular biology techniques are preferred. Familiarity with high throughput automation and screening methods is a plus. This person will be expected to effectively manage laboratory data, be proficient in MS Office applications and have strong written and oral communications skills.
