Research Associate Genocea Biosciences, Inc.
The Research Associate will be expected to carry out experiments with limited supervision. Position involves supporting basic lab activities and communicating progress internally. The individual must have the capacity to adapt and learn new concepts to assist in experimental planning and troubleshooting. Working well within a dynamic and team-oriented start-up environment is a must.
Will be able to demonstrate strong communication, problem solving and analytical skills. Has the ability to multi-task and be highly organized. Displays solid technical knowledge and has hands-on experience. The ideal candidate will have experience with standard immunological assays and flow cytometry.
BS in Immunology or related field with 1-3 years of relevant laboratory experience.
Responsibilities for this position include
Performance of multi-parameter flow cytometry assays on human cells
Support of clinical immunoassays, including ELISpot, ELISA, or functional assays
Maintenance of clinical sample database
Analysis of complex datasets
Attend team meetings for experimental planning and presentation of results
Maintenance of literature database and laboratory notebooks
Experience in flow cytometry use, methods (e.g., intracellular cytokine staining), and analysis (e.g., FlowJo) is a must
Fluent with Microsoft Excel
Skills in flow cytometry assay development is a plus
Familiarity with FACS Canto is a plus
Knowledge of cell and tissue culture, including thawing of cryopreserved samples and cell counting
Ability to follow established clinical protocols and procedures.
Experience handling and processing whole blood
Comfortable handling potentially infectious human clinical samples as well as viral or bacterial pathogens
Experience to identify when troubleshooting is necessary
Familiarity with software programs such as FreezerWorks, GraphPad Prism, and Guava is a plus
