Job Description: Research Associate, Cell and Molecular Biology
Reporting to: Associate Director, Research and Development
General Description: Second Genome seeks an energetic and creative individual with hands-on laboratory experience in the area of cell biology, molecular biology, immunology, or microbiology and has experience running cell, organotypic, or bacteria based functional assays. Familiarity with several experimental formats, including Luminex multiplex analysis, ELISA assays, RNA and DNA isolation, qPCR, and genomic sequencing, is desirable. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to maintain general laboratory function, and implementation of cell based assays to measure immune and metabolic function in response to bacterial pathogen challenge. Special consideration will be given to candidates familiar with both eukaryotic and prokaryotic culture systems.
Background: The candidate will have a BS or MS degree in Cell, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Pharmacology, or Microbiology with a minimum of 3-5 years of laboratory experience. Experience in a biotech setting is desirable although not required.
Required attributes: Successful candidate will have a sound understanding of the maintenance and day-to-day function of a high performance laboratory and be eager and diligent about assisting team members with a high volume workload. The successful candidate will possess good interpersonal skills, demonstrate a willingness to multi-task, and exhibit strong organization and documentation skills. Candidates should also have a good working knowledge of Microsoft word and power point, analytical programs such as prism and excel and familiarity with database management.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
