Research Associate / Coating Process Technician Precursor Energetics
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED We are an innovative Silicon Valley start-up company that combines molecular chemistry, materials science, and device engineering to create novel materials and processes for the photovoltaic and electronic materials markets. We currently have open full-time positions for Research Associates who are able to perform the following tasks:
Support the development of new materials for energy applications by coating high-quality thin films.
Perform coating and film processing in a glove box using air-sensitive materials.
Responsible for executing experiments in close collaboration with senior scientific staff.
Characterize films with various instrumental methods.
Reliably carry out complex procedures and accurately record observations and data.
Contribute flexibly to process development in a dynamic start-up.
Role and Responsibilities
Carry our liquid-based coating processes using an inert atmosphere glove box
Test new processes, equipment, and formulations
Analyze coatings by use of SEM, profilometry, XRD and other instrumental techniques
Competent with basic chemical laboratory practices
Accurately record and communicate data and technical information
Education and Experience
Bachelor?s or Master?s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field
3+years of experience in liquid-based coating or printing such as spin, rod, die, or spray coating, inkjet or screen printing for the semiconductor, optics, or electronics industries
Experience using a glove box and knowledge of air-sensitive procedures preferred
Competent with chemical processes and mechanical systems
Thorough knowledge of standard laboratory practices and safety procedures is essential

Stoop, crouch, sit, stand, and walk frequently during the day
May lift up to 50 lbs
