An immediate opening exists for a Research Associate within the Discovery Biology department. The individual will join a dynamic group supporting drug discovery in the areas of cardiovascular, pulmonary and skeletal muscle diseases.The responsibilities for this position include preparing reagents and purifying proteins for use in biochemical assays, testing drug candidates using a variety of biochemical and cellular assays, and studying drug/protein interactions using a variety of biophysical methods.
The position requires a B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry or a related discipline with 0-2 years of experience.
The candidate must be highly motivated, detail-oriented and have a good understanding and hands-on experience with general biochemistry lab practices (buffer preparation, analysis of proteins by SDS-PAGE, enzymatic assays, scientific experiment design, and data analysis).
Excellent reliability, oral and written communication, interpersonal, organization, and collaboration skills are required.
The candidate must work flexibly within a team-based environment.
Experience working with muscle proteins, cells, and/or tissues is highly desirable.
