Alder Biopharmaceuticals is seeking a self-motivated individual to join our Research Fermentation group. The successful candidate will work as part of a tightly coordinated team to perform small-scale fermentation studies to advance Alder?s proprietary Mab Xpress technology for the expression of full-length monoclonal antibodies in Pichia pastoris. Job duties include all aspects of fermentation technology as well as product recovery. Responsibilities include: the preparation, assembly, operation and cleaning of fermentation equipment, media preparation, hardware troubleshooting, the execution of analytical assays and growth studies to support strain development and fermentation process optimization. This position requires careful attention to detail including extensive data documentation of the preparative as well as the executed portions of these experiments. A flexible work schedule to accommodate experimental studies is a must, including occasional weekend hours.Qualifications:
BS in biological sciences, bioprocess engineering or related field. The candidate must be detail oriented with strong time management skills, possess excellent interpersonal skills and be a committed team player. Good written and oral communication skills are required. This position requires the ability to lift 40 pounds. Experience in successfully maintaining an aseptic process environment, fermentation techniques (e.g. metabolite analysis, process development, etc.), and equipment maintenance is a plus.
