Research Associate II, Clinical Laboratory Assay Development Singulex
Under guidance of senior personnel, design and conduct research and experiments based on the needs of the group effort to support assay troubleshooting, root cause analysis, process improvement, reagent formulation, guard band and stability studies. May also be involved in assay optimization, verification and validation studies.
Develop an in-depth understanding of the technology encompassed in and practiced with the Singulex assays, as well as other assay platforms employed by the CLIA lab.
Understand, prepare, and communicate technical information to a wide range of audiences.
Apply knowledge of scientific principles and concepts to the design, development, and execution of experiments.
Demonstrate technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others, and an ability to work independently.
Document findings following requirements of the CLIA laboratory and the Quality System and maintain appropriate laboratory records, notebooks, QC and manufacturing documentation as required.
Participate in brainstorming and troubleshooting sessions.
Normally receives no instructions on routine work, general instructions on new assignments, and detailed instructions or training on new applications or responsibilities.
Maintain familiarity with current technology related information, literature, and theories.
Conduct project-related information searches and literature searches.
Operate lab instruments according to procedures. Prepare reagents as required.
Analyze human specimens (blood, serum, and plasma) for specific analytes using Singulex or other immunoassays.
May be required to work non-standard hours; for example, second shift or weekends.
This is a hands-on bench level laboratory position.
BS, MS, or PhD in Biological Sciences (e.g. biology, biotechnology, immunology, cell biology, biochemistry).
Industry experience in CLIA environment and basic understanding of DOE and process control desired.
Demonstrated record of accomplishment in immunoassay development and troubleshooting required.
Working knowledge of immunoassay methods used for protein analysis, with hands-on experience in at least one of the following assay formats: EIA, bead (e.g., Luminex platform), ECL, or ELISA required.
Experience with automation desired.
Demonstrated proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word programs is essential.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to work in multi-functional groups.
