The responsibilities for this position are focused on cardiac and skeletal contractility research and include preparation of rat adult ventricular cardiomyocytes using a modified Langendorff preparation; executing microscopy-based contractility assays using cardiomyocytes; preparation of muscle fibers and making muscle fiber force measurements; performing automated assays; analyzing and reporting data to corporate databases, and producing written and oral reports. Additional duties may be required. Level will be commensurate with experience.
The position requires a B.S./M.S. in Biology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry or a related discipline and a minimum of 3 years industry experience
Significant experience in isolating primary cells from tissue is required
Experience with animal surgery and with isolated heart preparations is a plus
The candidate must have excellent technical and troubleshooting abilities, good dexterity, be highly motivated, flexible and detail-oriented
The candidate should have good computer skills; familiarity with database applications a plus.
Excellent reliability, oral and written communication, interpersonal, organization, and collaboration skills are required.
