Research Associate - Molecular and Cell Biology Fluxion Biosciences

Fluxion is currently looking for a full-time Research Associate to support our application development of a rare cell analysis platform. The successful candidate will contribute to assay development, optimization, validation, and quality control efforts. This position requires experience in a variety of molecular and cellular biology techniques. The Research Associate will:
Under the direction of a senior scientist, perform a variety of molecular and cell based assays to support application development of a novel rare cell analysis platform
Follow established protocols for running instruments and associated assays
Aid in the development of new methods by running experiments and keeping well documented records
Operate Fluxions rare cell analysis system for the processing of clinical and research samples
Maintain cell cultures and prepare cell suspensions and reagents for experimental use
Communicate experimental results to members of the technical staff and provide recommendations for further improvements to experimental methods
Maintain a thorough and detailed laboratory notebook to document experimental results
This job will require the following attributes:
M.S. in Biology or related subject, or equivalent experience in molecular and cell biology
A MINIMIUM of 2 full years of experience as a Research Associate or Technician
Post-graduation and/or Industry experience preferred
Experience with clinical samples and previous bloodborne pathogen training is highly desired
Extensive and recent hands-on experience in at least 3 of the following areas:
o DNA/RNA extraction and preparation
o Cell culture, including primary cell lines
o Clean-bench and aseptic technique
o Molecular biology, including PCR/qPCR
o Fluorescence microscopy and immunofluorescence staining
o Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)
o Whole blood processing (e.g. fractionation, Ficoll, etc.)
o High content analysis instrumentation
o Familiarity with Next Gen Sequencing
o Microfluidics
Knowledge of data analysis tools and ability to compile a variety of data types into presentation formats
Ability to work both independently and within the team structure, good teamwork attitude a must
Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment
Flexible and quickly adaptable to changing priorities
Excellent written and oral communication skills and meticulous record keeping.
