We are currently seeking a Research Associate in our Pharmacology Services Group.
Position Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated, pro-active individual to join the Pharmacology Services Group which is devoted to supporting novel the development of novel therapies for cardiovascular, bronchoconstrictive and skeletal muscle diseases. In this position, the individual will assist in the conduct of a variety of ADME, tolerability and efficacy studies in rodents. The successful candidate will have a background in pharmacology/physiology and experience, drug administration, blood collection techniques, surgical nursing/support for both survival and non survival procedures. In addition to supporting various in vivo studies the candidate will also support general vivarium operations and compliance with the Animal Welfare Act, OLAW and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and other relevant regulatory guidelines as appropriate. Vivarium operations duties may include; performance and documentation of daily colony health checks, feeding, watering, changing/ cleaning/ autoclaving cages and equipment, etc. for rodents and daily and routine maintenance and cleaning of vivarium; procurement and receipt of animal shipments, food, bedding and general supplies.

Qualifications:
The qualified candidate will have BS in one of the Life Sciences, Veterinary Health (RVT) or a related area with two to five years experience in pharmacology and a basic knowledge rodent physiology.
Must be proficient and able to handle rodents, aseptic technique and have a strong working knowledge of the appropriate animal care and welfare regulations.
AALAS membership or certification would be a plus.
Must be an independent self-starter, have a proven track record for working independently, and possess strong quantitative skills including the use of standard computer programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
He/she will be highly motivated, attentive to detail, well organized and have the ability to excel in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Requires the ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment, communicate and collaborate effectively, quickly learn new techniques, organize tasks efficiently, and keep accurate records.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Must be able to frequently and safely lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs.
