EverydayHealth.com is seeking an aggressive, innovative individual to shape our overall coverage of medical research for consumer health audiences, and create a powerful, timely report on a set of specific medical conditions.
The successful candidate will have a proven background in health journalism, medical research or both and the ability to conceptualize, organize and deliver provocative packages that inform health consumers and those living with medical conditions. He/she must possess strong writing and editing ability and an interest in engaging with digital audiences and EverydayHealth.com users about their health concerns. Exceptional communication skills and a willingness to accept new challenges are essential. A strong network within the medical research community is preferred.
Review and annotate medical research of relevance to health consumers.
Develop new ways of presenting medical research in concise, actionable ways to health consumers.
Pitch, report, and produce engaging and relevant stories and multimedia items that inform and advise the EH Health and Condition audience about how to recognize and treat conditions at all disease stages.
Monitor Web sites, morning shows, radio programs, magazine articles, blogs, Social media to stay on top of the latest health news and conditions news.
Work with partners, major medical journals, medical organizations and their respective annual scientific meetings, and government and non-profit organizations, including the CDC, FDA, USDA, and more, to stay ahead of embargoed news to pitch engaging/fresh/virally appealing stories.
Assemble and curate feeds of staff, freelance, user, and externally produced content of interest to EH audiences.
Write and produce promotional blurbs, captions, and headlines for sites, newsletters, feeds and Social accounts.
Contribute coverage, UX, and display ideas for our sites, newsletters, feeds and Social network programming.
Experience in researching medical information, reviewing medical research or conducting medical research.
Proven background in meeting daily deadlines
Strong communication skills.
Proficient at using a variety of sources, including first-person expert interviews and studies published in medical journals, to produce thorough and accurate health journalism, scholarly articles, educational materials, or equivalent.
Able to multi-task in pursuit of tight deadlines and comfortable in a fast-paced, creative environment that requires meticulous attention to detail
Excited by medical and health news, juggling multiple assignments, and adapting to constantly shifting priorities in response to changing market conditions.
Demonstrated editing skills.
Journalism experience a plus.
