This position will have the responsibility of supporting the development of a novel cell enrichment platform by generating experimental protocols, performing experiments on a frequent basis, analyzing and documenting results and providing engineering solutions. In addition, this position will have the responsibility of providing field service engineering support and technical support for ApoCell?s ApoStream instruments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Works closely with engineers, scientists, and technical directors to support the development of new products.
Contributes in a hands-on role with extensive time in the laboratory conducting experiments to support product development.
Supports design, testing, evaluation and implementation of electrical/mechanical modules associated with instrumentation.
Provides field service engineering support for instruments at client sites including instrument receipt/inspection/calibration, instrument installation and qualification, preventative maintenance, instrument repair/servicing, training, and technical support.
Adheres to established methods and SOPs, quality control procedures (including documentation of results) and preventative maintenance schedules.
Efficiently uses time and resources to accomplish required tasks.
Maintains effective communication with the project team through oral and written correspondence.
Independently performs data analysis and prepares presentations for review meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Master?s Degree in bioengineering, electrical, mechanical or comparable engineering field with focus on microfluidics/electrochemistry is preferred. Candidates with a Bachelor?s degree and relevant experience will also be considered.
Specialized Knowledge: Experinece in electrochemistry, microfluidics, dielectrophoresis and electrical/mechanical engineering design is preferred.
Skills: Exceptional scientific troubleshooting, mechanical aptitude and technical skills. Good computer skills with mid- to advanced level in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Good team player; meticulously detailed and organized. Experience using analytical instruments used in the laboratory. Capable of working without direct supervision.
Abilities: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with scientists, lab personnel, company management, clients and external engineering design firms contributing to cross-functional activities in a matrixed environment. Must be able to work under pressure and multitask to meet project deadlines.
Job will require regular travel and occasional work in the evenings/weekends.
Reasonably good health is required for this demanding position. Must be able to travel on standard commercial carriers. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
