Theraclone Sciences is a privately held research and development biotech company located in Seattle, WA
(www.theraclone-sciences.com). We focus on discovering and developing human monoclonal antibodies for
therapeutic or as basis for vaccine development using the proprietary I-STAR? technology that differentiates
from other technologies by its success in isolating rare antibodies from the memory B cell repertoire.
Theraclone is seeking a Ph.D. level individual with in-depth expertise in conducting Research and Development
with bacterial or viral pathogens. Industry experience is highly preferred.
The qualified individual will have:
? Strong infectious disease research experience with emphasis on bacterial or viral pathogen biology.
Experience with both is highly desirable.
? Solid background and hands-on experience in assay development for therapeutic antibody candidates.
? Demonstrated knowledge of pathogen mechanisms of infection, pathogenesis and clinical manifestations.
? Knowledge of how to screen for monoclonal antibodies that interfere with pathogen biological activities
and prevent or treat infection.
? Demonstrated motivation and an acute aptitude to learn quickly, develop and implement new techniques,
and expand knowledge in areas of biology.
? Proven ability to work in a dynamic fast-moving matrix organization.
? Experience as a project leader in an industry setting is highly preferred.
In a matrix working environment, the successful candidate will be expected to
? Contribute as a project team member or leader in our efforts to discover novel therapeutic monoclonal
antibodies against pathogens of clinical significance.
? Thoroughly incorporate knowledge of the pathogens in conceptualizing the therapeutic antibody
discovery strategy.
? Design, develop and execute high throughput screening assays; characterize and validate selected
antibodies as therapeutic leads.
? Collaborate internally across multidisciplinary functional groups and externally with academic and
industrial partners to deliver on project and company goals.
