GlycoMimetics, Inc. is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing a new class of glycobiology-based therapies for a broad range of indications. We are located in Gaithersburg, Maryland.We are seeking a creative and highly motivated medicinal chemist to join our Research team. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of clinical candidates through innovative synthetic and organic chemistry. This is a hands-on position.
Job Responsibilities include:
Designs experiments and executes laboratory research
Uses innovative technology to design and synthesize compounds
Interprets and analyzes data
Interprets PK data and designs compounds to resolve PK issues
Contributes to the development and implementation of a clear strategy for developing novel medicines leveraging our in-depth understanding of carbohydrate biology
Uses scientific knowledge and best practices to contribute to the development of company concepts and principles and to achieve objectives in creative and effective ways
Keeps current on scientific knowledge
Publishes and presents research internally and externally
Interacts with GMI team members and collaborates with external partners
Job Requirements:
Ph.D. in synthetic or organic chemistry or a related scientific discipline and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry
Expertise in synthetic organic chemistry methodologies
Devises innovative approaches and solutions
Excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently and interact effectively within a multidisciplinary team
