Responsibilities
NCS Pearson, Inc. seeks a Research Scientist, in Menlo Park, CA to advance automated on-line testing grading technology while working with sales, marketing and test development teams to solve practical problems from the field. Administer entire R&D cycle (including building language models, training acoustic models, building Automatic Speech Recognition(ASR) systems, and building statistical models for measuring the performance) for automated grading of different test system. Design new algorithms for different purposes, such as improving the ASR and grading performance. Complete data analysis for different requirements. Write scripts and tools to support sales, marketing and test development teams. Maintain grading system.
Requirements: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Also requires at least one year of full time or full time equivalent experience as a Research Scientist, Research Assistant, or Graduate Research Assistant (industry or academic research) in the development of artificial intelligence systems, including development of statistical modeling and machine learning utilizing C/C++, Perl, Python, Matlab; designing and running ASR experiments using HTK; and linguistic and statistical analysis of natural language. Graduate research may be obtained concurrently with Master and/or Ph.D. research and may consist of either full time or full time equivalent research experience. All experience may be gained concurrently.
