This positionwill have primary responsibility in the development of fermentation processes for the biosynthesis of sesquiterpenes or other high value products by genetically engineered microorganisms. The position requires a bachelor?s degree or higher in chemical or biochemical engineering, life sciences, or chemistry and at least ten years experience in development of fermentation and recovery processes for biological products from microorganisms, including experimental design at the laboratory and pilot scales. The position requires a thorough understanding of manufacturing scale processes and economics, and the ability to apply that knowledge to the laboratory scale development of fermentation and recovery processes. Knowledge and understanding of the biology of yeast and other microorganisms and experience with microbial fermentation are also required. The position may involve technology transfer to and oversight of contract manufacturers.
