Job Description
A research scientist is responsible for designing and implementing a program of research aimed at improving student outcomes and advancing the state of the art in educational technology. Research programs generally take the form of either field experimentation or data mining, both focusing on our Cognitive Tutor products. A research scientist is expected to take a lead role in defining research projects and to lead the team carrying out the research. Research scientists are expected publish and to present results internally and at conferences and may be asked to discuss their own and others? research with customers. Research scientists are expected to pursue collaborative research both within the Apollo Group and with other institutions and may be asked to pursue external research funding to support some of their efforts.
Requirements
Ph.D. in cognitive science, psychology, statistics, education or a related field
Strong research skills and the ability to define research projects
Strong written and oral communications skills
Educational field research experience is highly desirable.
Software development skills and the ability to modify Cognitive Tutor and/or statistical analysis code is desirable.
