Ardelyx targets specific gut transporters and receptors with drugs that address important
medical issues in cardiovascular and gastrointestinal (GI) diseases, diabetes and chronic kidney
disease. With its approach, Ardelyx has developed drug candidates that exhibit restricted
absorption across the GI epithelia, thereby acting locally and specifically in the GI tract while

As a member of the Molecular Pharmacology group at Ardelyx, you will join a team supporting
ongoing discovery, preclinical, and clinical activities. You will serve on multidisciplinary project
teams focused on the discovery and development of new medicines. Molecular Pharmacology
works in close collaboration with medicinal chemistry and pharmacology and plays a key role in
developing and running our in vitro screening platform. Successful candidates will contribute
directly to the success of the company across all development programs. The ideal candidate is
team-focused and adept moving rapidly between laboratory techniques in a dynamic
environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
? Develop, implement and execute novel in vitro/ex vivo biochemical, cell and primary
tissue based assays
? Share overall workload of the Molecular Pharmacology group by running established
assays as needed
? Process data and report results to project teams and databases
? Participate in and contribute to multi-functional project teams; provide expertise in
biochemical assays
Requirements
? Ph.D. or equivalent in life sciences with four or more years industrial experience and
expertise in the areas of molecular pharmacology and drug discovery
? Non-Ph.D.s with four or more years of industrial experience at the Scientist level may
also be considered
? Experience developing novel biochemical assays
? Proficiency in the use of radiolabeled tracers in biochemistry
? A strong background in the implementation of chemical instrumentation
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer proficiency (esp. Excel
and GraphPad Prism)
? A record of self-motivation and ability to work as a part of small interdisciplinary teamsPreference given to candidates with
? Experience in electrophysiology techniques such as patch clamp and Ussing chamber
? Experience in the discovery of drugs used to treat gastrointestinal and/or kidney disease
? Experience with primary cell culture and ex vivo tissue-based assays
? Experience with methods used to study ion channels and nutrient transporters
? Experience in the quantitative analysis of biochemical target levels: rtPCR/Western
Blot/ELISA
