Our technology is the gold standard for monitoring vital signs in animals, which plays an important role in delivering health care to people. We have an immediate opening for a Research Surgeon.
The qualified candidate will become an integral part of our DSI?s Surgical Services team. They will contribute to DSI Scientific Services? revenue by performing surgery and completing surgical training at customer?s sites around the world and also at DSI headquarters in St. Paul, MN. They will also provide internal surgical services and animal care to assist with product development, internal training, development of new surgical techniques and customer support. The candidate must be able to work well both independently and as part of a group, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. They must have large animal (canine, swine, NHP) and small animal (rodent) survival surgery experience, possess a thorough understanding of aseptic technique and pen-operative animal care (including physical examination, medication administration and monitoring). An ability to use a microscope, with excellent hand eye coordination and fine motors skills are required for this position. The position also requires up to 50% travel.
Education requirements: The candidate should ideally be a Certified Veterinary Technician, however, a BS in Animal Science will also be considered. Current Surgical Research Surgeon (SRS) certification or a willingness to complete within one to two years is required. Certification in lab animal related field strongly encouraged (e.g. LAT/LATG). Experience requirements: Requires up to 3 years experience.
