Job Description

Supervise the sales order processing and collections functions
Supervise order processing clerk(s)
Supervise the collections clerk(s)
Review and post sales and collection batches in accounting system
Ensure sales data is processed correctly in sales and accounting systems
Ensure compliance with revenue recognition rules of GAAP
Learn software revenue recognition rules
Code sales transactions according to revenue recognition rules
Answer questions from accounting clerks or sales personnel concerning application of revenue recognition rules
Revenue / sales reporting
Prepare weekly and monthly sales reports using Pivot Tables in Excel
Commissions and royalties processing
Understand (relatively) complex commission and royalty rules
Organize sales data (in Excel) in order to complete monthly commission and royalty reports
Address questions concerning commission and royalty statements
Assist with other accounting functions
Review weekly accounts payable vendor invoice batches
Review weekly vendor check batches
Other tasks and projects as needed

Required Skills

Strong use of Microsoft Excel
Thorough ability to create and manipulate Excel worksheets including: setting up worksheets from scratch, sorting data, creating and manipulating pivot tables, using formulas, etc.
Critical thinking / analytical skills
Must be detail-oriented and observant ? ability to apply and review complex revenue recognition rules
We prefer a candidate that is a diligent note-taker
Manage sales order processing and collections functions
Ability to give detailed instructions and help others understand and apply such instructions
Patient manager ? not overbearing or over-critical
Ability to give constructive feedback ? both inside the accounting team and to sales personnel
Possess a personality that fits in with our casual, team environment
Self- starter
Ability to work independently ? doesn?t require a lot of hand-holding
Willing to do whatever is necessary to help the accounting team complete its assignments

Required Experience

Accounting Background
Accounting degree strongly preferred
At least 2-3 years experience in an accounting related job
Any experience with software revenue recognition would be a plus
