Revenue Accountant Palo Alto Networks

Palo Alto Networks, the network security company, is looking for an individual to help develop the company's revenue recognition and accounting and management with particular emphasis on closing revenue each month on a timely basis with a very high level of precision and accuracy.
This individual will be a key member of the Controller's group and will report to the Senior Revenue Manager. It is expected that this individual will progress to higher levels of responsibility in revenue recognition and accounting.
Responsibilities
-Key driver of revenue close activities. Specific areas of responsibility include:
o Data integrity reviews
o Preparation of accounting transactions
o Analysis of allocations and deferral waterfalls for reasonableness
o Preparation of journal entries and reconciliations of revenue and deferred revenue accounts
o Overall results analysis
-Manage updating of VSOE/BESP studies and analysis of implied PCS periods
-Review of transactions for linkage
- Monitor and report status against monthly and quarterly close checklists
o Identify and implement process improvements in the order-to-cash process
o Review and analyze credit memos
o Assist with SOX compliance and external audits
o Participate in special projects
Requirements
- BA required.
- Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA a plus
- Minimum three years relevant experience required. Two years public accounting experience desired. Experience with high technology hardware clients and/or revenue recognition a plus. Should be familiar with closes processes and issues, account reconciliations and journal entry preparation.
- Experience with Revpro revenue accounting application highly desirable. Experience with SAP ERP a plus.
- High Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel and Word)
- Team player and solid communicator (written and verbal skills); strong interpersonal skills
