We are seeking a Revenue Accounting Manager to lead a revenue and collections team and also contribute in the negotiation and structuring of our sales contracts and ensuring compliance with software revenue recognition rules. This individual must maintain up-to-date knowledge of revenue recognition authoritative accounting guidance. The position requires an individual to organize figures and thoughts into a thorough, accurate and clear summary and then effectively communicate the information to all levels of management, in a timely manner. This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your strong public accounting background and knowledge of software revenue recognition into a highly diverse and visible role where your will have the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and staff across the organization on complex revenue accounting issues.
Review, analyze and summarize customer contracts/orders/projects for revenue recognition and proper revenue accounting treatment
Assist with pre and post-sales support for revenue recognition on deals
Perform a monthly review of transactions that require special treatment to ensure they were recorded in accordance with summary of treatment provided
Responsible for VSOE/fair value testing and corresponding fair value deferrals, pursuant to EITF 00-21, SOP 97-2 and future revenue guidance
Provide revenue recognition guidance and training to cross-functional organizations including sales, legal, accounting/finance
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of authoritative accounting guidance on revenue recognition
Responsible for periodic updates to the Policies and Procedures Manual for the revenue recognition process and related internal controls
Continuously think outside the box, and identify areas of improvement, and develop time-saving solutions
Ensure data integrity in all business systems (systems maintained by self as well as others in the company)
Assist with special projects as needed
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
5-7+ years of progressive public accounting experience within a Big 4 or large regional public accounting firm. Additional experience within a large, global software company desired.
Comprehensive understanding of and experience with software revenue recognition rules: SOP 97-2/ASC 985-605-25, SAB 104/ASC 605-10-S99, and SOP 98-1/ASC 350-40.
