Job Description
This technical accounting position will be part of managing the end-to-end accounting, business, and system process required to analyze, account for and report GAAP revenue recognition for complex customer contracts and document the appropriate accounting methodology in accordance with US GAAP.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review customer contract: identify, articulate, and document issues and the financial impacts in compliance with US GAAP
Act as primary internal expert with respect to revenue recognition matters as projects are deployed
Responsible for month-end and quarter-end close activities (including deferral and recognition of cost of revenue, GAAP revenue recognition under EITF 08-1/09-3 and SOP 97-2, tracking of customer services level commitments, balance, sheet reconciliations, monthly management reporting package and flux analyses).
Work closely with Company?s external auditors to ensure approved revenue policies are carefully adhered to and monitored and to support quarterly/annual audit.
Work closely with External Reporting to support SEC reporting processes.
GAAP revenue forecast, modeling and process improvement.
Lead system implementation related to revenue processes.
Partner with other departments to streamline bookings, billings and revenue recognition processes.
Required Experience
Bachelor?s degree in accounting or related field.
CPA with Big 4 experience.
7+ years of combined experience in private industry and public accounting, with at least 1-2 years of work experience directly related to revenue recognition.
Knowledge of current US GAAP with respect to revenue recognition (EITF 09-3 and 08-1, as well as SOP 97-2) and ability/willingness to stay current on all related developing issues.
Detail-oriented with superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience with Oracle or other large ERP system required.
Experience with GAAP revenue forecasting preferred.
Intermediate/advanced Excel skills required and ability to work with and analyze and interpret large volumes of transactional data.
Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and business partnering skills with demonstrated ability to work cross functionally and at various levels within a company.
Excellent time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and operate with a sense of urgency, with self-starter orientation.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and be a change agent for implementing new ideas and process improvements in an increasingly complex environment.
