This is a great opportunity to work with a fast growing international leading manufacturer of microfluidic systems for the life science and agricultural biotechnology industries.
We are looking for an accounting professional who has extensive experience with revenue recognition in a publicly traded company in the life science or high-tech field. This individual will report directly to the corporate assistant controller and oversee and manage global revenue recognition accounting and operational matters and SOX compliance.
The candidate must be able to effectively communicate accounting guidance, resolve issues, and partner with sales and legal to review sales agreements and terms and conditions for proper revenue recognition, develop process improvement, and meet monthly/quarterly deadlines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
? Lead the revenue recognition function, including the review of complex agreements, application of US GAAP and identification of inherent risks, ownership of revenue and related general ledger accounts.
? Review agreements and purchase orders to assess proper revenue recognition treatment, including the identification of contractual elements.
? Perform VSOE/BESP analyses for multiple element arrangements.
? Serve as an internal technical accounting resource during the agreement negotiation process by working with the sales and legal departments and analyzing the impact of customer terms and conditions, communicating the revenue impact of such terms, and offering alternative structures, as available.
? Ensure revenue accounting policies are documented and applied consistently on a worldwide basis in accordance with SOX.
? Ensure the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data related to deferred revenue and open contract elements that require deferral of revenue.
? Support audit activities and be main point of contact for all revenue cycle testing and explanations.
? Implement revenue recognition reporting and process improvements based upon industry trends, authoritative literature changes and business objectives.
? Provides technical guidance on matters involving significant judgment or complex application of US GAAP, including the preparation of technical accounting memos.
? Assist in the preparation of SEC filings including the preparation of footnote and MD&A disclosures. Also assist with review of earnings releases. Prepare or obtain documentation to support disclosures and earnings release.
Desired Skills & Experience:
? Extensive knowledge of technical requirements of ASC 605 Revenue Recognition and SAB 104.
? Strong US GAAP knowledge.
? Bachelor?s degree in accounting.
? CPA with at least 8 years of public and private experience (Big 4 preferred) with exposure to complex revenue recognition issues. Experience with SEC reporting a plus.
? Excellent in Excel spreadsheet skills, including the ability to create formulas & schedules using pivot tables, vlookup, etc.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills are mandatory, along with extremely strong analytic ability.
? Position will have very high exposure within the company. Must be very hands on but also have the experience to be involved with Senior Management on a daily basis and work in a fast paced environment.
