Job Description
We're seeking a mid- to senior-level Revenue and Inventory Accountant who has a strong accounting foundation, is proactive and eager to learn, and thrives on working across a dynamic and growing company and at all levels to solve problems and make improvements. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Accounting Director with an opportunity for long-term growth.
The Revenue and Inventory Accountant will be responsible for inventory, revenue, cost of sales accounting, monthly gross margin analysis, various monthly close processes, and interacting with external auditors.
- Review and monitor transaction processing for revenue, cost of sales and inventory accounts.
- Maintain sub-ledger for deferred revenue.
- Prepare journal entries and reconcile revenue, deferred revenue, cost of sales and inventory sub-ledgers to the general ledger on a monthly basis, in a timely manner, in accordance with US GAAP.
- Review customer orders and arrangements for proper revenue recognition in accordance with company policy and US GAAP.
- Calculate, reconcile and analyze returns reserves.
- Monitor and reconcile distributor inventory and sell-through data.
- Perform monthly gross margin analysis and present findings to management.
- Analyze and explain variances of inventories (production, scrap, purchase price variances, etc.).
- Calculate, reconcile and analyze inventory and warranty reserves.
- Prepare quarter end and year-end audit schedules.
- Collaborate with Operations and Engineering on inventory costing and system processing.
- Prepare revenue forecast based projected bookings and billings.
- Drive for continuous systems and process improvements.
- Perform related duties as required.
Skills/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with concentration in accounting and at least 3 years of related experience.
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including cost accounting and revenue recognition.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with ERP systems.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully interact and work with all levels of the organization in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal guidance, prioritize, multitask and complete multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Sound business judgment and impeccable ethics.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced organization with a focused, roll-up-your-sleeves, pragmatic approach to business.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in revenue and cost of sales accounting in the technology industry or public accounting.
- Experience with Microsoft AX Dynamics ERP system.
- CPA a plus.
